10 Cara Membentuk Question Tags dengan Mudah

Question Tags merupakan jenis pernyataan yang diakhiri dengan pertanyaan dalam bahasa inggris. Question Tags biasanya lebih sering digunakan dalam pembicaraan lisan daripada tulisan.

Ada 10 cara pembentukan question tags yaitu sebagai berikut.

1. Apabila kalimat utama berbentuk positif, maka question tag nya berbentuk negatif

Contoh kalimat:

  • I think that you know Angelina Jolie (main verb) — You know Angelina Jolie, don’t you? (Question tags) — Yes, I do (Answer)
  • I think that Peter can play the violin (Main Verb) — Peter can play the violin, can’t he? (Question tags) — Yes, he can (Answer).

2. Apabila kalimat utama berbentuk negatif, maka uquestion tagsnya berbentuk negatif

Contoh kalimat:

  • I think that you don’t know Brad Pitt (Main Verb) — You don’t know Brad Pitt, do you? (Question Tags) — No, i don’t (Answer).
  • I think that Michael isn’t from Venezuela (Main Verb) — Michael isn’t from Venezuela, is he? (Question Tags) — No, he isn’t (Answer).

3. Bentuk tenses sama, apabila kalimat utama berbentu present tense maka question tags nya juga harus mengfunakan present tense

Contoh kalimat:

  • I think she is a dentist at Mayapada Hospital (Main Verb) — She is a dentist at Mayapada Hospital, isn’t she? (Question Tags) — Yes, she is (Answer).
  • I think Pian had choosen the right woman for his wife (Main Verb) — Pian had choosen the right woman for his wife, hadn’t he? (Question Tags) — Yes, he had (Answer).

4. Auxiliary verb atau kata bantu yang digunakan seperti do, does, did, have, has dan had

Contoh kalimat:

  • I think you have enough time to release this prestigious program (Main Verb) — You have enough time to release this prestigious program, don’t you? (Question Tags) — Yes, i do (Answer).
  • I think she has a lot of tricks to get the sympathy (Main Verb) — She has a lot of tricks to get the sympathy, doesn’t she? (Question Tags) — Yes, she does (Answer).

5. Apabila menggunakan modal auxiliary atau kata bantu modal, maka di question tags nya juga harus menggunakan kata bantu modal juga

Contoh kalimat:

  • I think he can serve the customer well (Main Verb) — He can serve the customer well, can’t he? (Question Tags) — Yes, he can (Answer).
  • I think Rani must check to the doctor (Main Verb) — Rani must check to the doctor, mutsn’t she? (Question Tags) — Yes, she must (Answer).

6. Ketika menggunakan kata yang memiliki makna negatif seperti hardly, scarcely, rarely, nothing memiliki question tag positif

Contoh kalimat:

  • I think nothing happened on our dorm last night (Main Verb) — Nothing happened in our dorm last night, did it? (Question Tags) — No, it didn’t (Answer).
  • I think they hardly mean to adopt their step children (Main Verb) — They hardly mean to adopt their step children, do they? (Question Tags) — No, they don’t (Answer).

7. Untuk kalimat utama diawali dengan subject seperti nothing atau something, kata ganti yang digunakan it, sedangkan subject nobody, no one, someone menggunakan kata ganti they

Contoh kalimat:

  • I think nothing disturb your sleep tonight (Main Verb) — Nothing disturb your sleep tonight, does it? (Question Tags) — No, it doesn’t (Answer).
  • I think nobody provided the seminar as good as you (Main Verb) — Nobody provided the seminar as good as you, did they? (Question Tags) — No, they don’t (Answer).

8. Untuk kata ajakan seperti let’s memiliki question tags seperti shall we

Contoh kalimat:

  • Let’s make a gre at party, shall we?
  • Let’s share the money to help her, shall we?

9. Kalimat perintah (imperative) bermaksud untuk mengundang seseorang untuk melakukan sesuatu menggunakan question tags won’t you

Contoh kalimat:

  • Come in, won’t you?
  • Get in, won’t you?

10. Bentuk question tag yang bertujuan untuk memerintah seseorang melakukan sesuatu adalah menggunakan will/would/can/can’t

Contoh kalimat:

  • Open the garage, will you?
  • Improve your pronounciation, will you?.
